This is the Butter Jade I got from WilliamC. Anybody else try tumbling this? I think it is too porous to take a polish I ran it 7 days in 1000,and half went into Cerium Oxide for 7 days, and the other half went into Tin Oxide for 7 days. It is beautiful and smooth as a babies bottom but just a matte finish. Here it is rough- Here it is after the typical runs. It is soft so I don't think Titanium is the answer. Any clues folks? There are some stones that just will not take a polish, and I believe this is one of those. Everyone seems to like it anyway, so I guess I'm OK with it. I may do some experimenting with it yet. Thanks for looking OK-OK; I take it back. Sorry for the false alarm

Hi banjo,, I got this info from Jade rock shop (www.jaderockshop.com) I hope it helps. If you go to Google and just type in ,,,,,,,,,, "polish for soft rocks" You'll get a lot of hits to go through,,,,, Tom Q. What is the "BEST POLISH" A. There is not one polish that is best for everything. Pro-Polish is a polish that if you have not tried you should Pro-Polish polishes much like Tin Oxide, but at half the price. This 1/2micron range fine grade alumna polish works on most materials, including many problem stones. Tin Oxide can help you put that super polish on Opal and many Quartz family stones. Most Quartz type stones and Glass polish very well with our Optical Grade Cerium Oxide. For a more brilliant finish, you may want to try Super Cerium (also known as French Cerium), our ultra high purity Cerium Oxide (it's white!). Lapis, Jade, and Rhodonite polish very well with Chrome Oxide (yes we know it is a messy Green, but it does the job on these hard to polish stones). Chrome Oxide also works well on Quartz. Sapphire Powder is the equal in every way to the old Linde A and B. Used mainly for faceting, it is also becoming a standard for polishing cabs by many professional cutters. CPP is designed for use in a rotary tumbler. CPP works on most stones, soft or hard. CPP is very low priced!

very pretty, I like the stripes in the rock.
Banjo, did you try to polish with Sandsman's beach rock or did you polish each separately? I wonder if the beach rock kept scratching the jade?

WilliamC got it from Gerhardus. Same place Cal just got his order from. I seperated the Butter jade out at the polish stage, but ran the beachrock with the butter Jade up through the 1000 step. I got the Butter Jade in Titanuim Oxide right now, and I'm gonna be pleased if that does the trick. It has done wonders before, but I just thought it was too soft to even try. If it works I'm gonna swap out these pics.

That stuff has a relaxing color doesn't it? I hope you get it to shine up Banjo, but if you don't, it is still pretty. Nice job, Don

I'm not familiar with cpp, but it sounds like a product that can be purchased from their web site. I'll try to get some new shots of the stones because I threw them in Titanium oxide and Whalla! They are beautiful. The titanium comes through again!! I'm going to replace some of the above photos with the new ones when I get some taken. I am amazed! Pleasantly! ;D

Can't wait to see them polished. They are really pretty even without a wet shine.
I agree with donwrob. The color is so relaxing and serene. Those would be really pretty in glass vase or dish.

Ok, I missed it on the Cerium Oxide, and I missed it on the Tin Oxide. But I hit it on the Titanium Oxide. It just shows me how different polishes can make a world of difference depending on the stone. Thanks for putting up with me, and my jumping to conclusions.
