Hi all. I just completed my first batch where ALL the stones came out with that wet-look. The only thing I did different was to put about a Tbls. of Borax in with the polish. Some of these stones have been run thru 1 or 2 times with other polish cycles and they never got the wet-look, but they sure did this time. The photos aren't the best quality, but in person they look like glass. first two pics complete batch img56.photobucket.com/albums/v172/orekar/rock%20tumbling/4387260-R1-018-7A.jpg[/img] some Jasper Backyard/Beach-next 2 pics I'm trying to convince my wife we need a digital camera, but so far, no luck and my Birthday isn't til November. Thanks, Ed

Stoner,
I can see the gloss, nice and shiny!
Saw your posting about cutting the rocks, I'll give you a call. And, if I can remember, I'll bring my camera. I can take some pics and send to you or post for everyone to see.

Hey ed...great job...looks like those rocks have a great shine. Maybe you can buy your wife a digital camera for her b'day, and she MAY let you use it?. ;D. or maybe anninversary date? I'm sure you'll find a way to get more pics on here! Keep on experimenting with those rocks...some people use borax after the final polish, but hey, whatever works for you. duke

Good looking batch. The next to the last pic relly shws how shiney the are. Great job. My pics were with a regular camera too, but they were much worse. I's so disapointing when you know how beautiful they really are. We won a shopping sree on line for test driving a car. Of course, you have to pay shipping and it's 10-20 bucks for every item. But we did get an inexspensive digital camera and a Miksa vase for about $25.00. If it works I'll be able to post better pics. Maybe look in pawn shops and you might find something affordable. cookie

Hey everyone. Thanks for kind words. I didn't think there was such a difference between a digital and a film camera. My film camera is an Olympus OMn2, which, although old, is a very nice camera. Oh well, November isn't that far off. Anyway, I'm fired up now. Got a batch in stage 2 and starting a new batch. Patience, patience, patience.....

Beautiful stones, Ed! Where did you hear of adding Borax in with the polish, or did you come up with that yourself? I may have to give that a try on some stuff I've had some trouble getting to take the polish. Thanks for the tip!

John: I like that one myself. Again, poor picture quality, cuz that stone is actually a creamy light green with black lines that I think is some type of jasper. Kinda looks like an areial view of a city. BE: I read about it on Andy's Main website, I think. It makes sense though. It has to do with surface tension and things slip-sliding away. It worked for me once, so I'm sure gonna try it again. In fact, I've got an extra barrel right now, I think I'll take a bunch of so-so looking stones and re-run them.
