Beautiful work Kim! Those have a terrific shine! Great shapes too! I can't belive you got that 'Tiger Eye' to polish up like that in the mix. Great job! You did me proud on the 'Green' too. I'll have to start using your photo to show what it can really look like polished. What did you use as polish?

WOW Kim! What a beatiful batch of rocks you have turned out! That shine is fabulous! I love the Tiger's eye (just got some myself), the green adventure is one of my favorites (I don't have any out of polish yet), and the heart shape stone is great! Did you shape that one or is it natural? What are you going to do with that one? It's just too perfect NOT to do something special with it!
What are the grey ones in the next to last photo? Quartz? They are really nice. And the rose quartz is beautiful - I just started some I got from Sandsman yesterday.
If I had to pick a favorite out of this batch, I'd sure be hard pressed to do it. They are all fabulous!

hmmmmmmm hard to say how these all ended up together because when i look back on my calendar they didn't start together - some started in march and the rest in mid-april. when i recharge i'll pick out the ones ready for step 2 until i have enough to move a whole batch. there's a big gap in my notes from may-june and then i noted they'd moved forward as a group on june 19th then they went through 120/220, 500, 1000, and titanium oxide polish each for a week. i ran them in borax for clean-up after polish. and then my husband spilled a cup of coffee on them but that's not part of the usual process ;D and then i rubbed them with a clean/soft cloth. cookie i love the titanium oxide polish for that wet look but the rocks have to be absolutely smooth or the polish will collect in the cracks or chipped places. this chipping/cracking happens sometimes in the polish stage no matter how many pellets i use. if you look in the next to last picture on the bottom right you'll see what i mean. and it doesn't come out of those places. llana that grey is banjo's green stone and in the 3rd pic the gold/red is from banjo. i shaped that heart on my tile saw and tumbled it but what hasn't made it through yet are the 1st 2 heart attempts that are humerous and the attempt at a cross that turned into a deformed 4-leaf clover but they are coming. kim

Bet they look great Kim. Wish I could see them. My computer is being stubborn and doesn't want to load the pics. Maybe it will be more cooroporative on another day. Maybe my spelling will be also! Otter

Jack, you've summed it up simply and elegantly, it IS such a pleasure to see the fruits of other peoples efforts and rejoice in the primal beauty of a polished rock....much in the same way we find delight in our own good works.
rocky and eveyone that posts in here, thank you for sharing your labours of love, KD

The shapes of the stones are beautiful. Did you preform the shapes at all? How much grinding and preforming did you do before the rough grind? Do you "touch up" rocks or remove stones that aren't "shaping up"as well. I'm embarrassed to admit that I still haven't completed a single batch all the way through - even though I now have 5 tumblers in the garage. Your pictures have inspired me to try again. James - I haven't even unpacked the great red jasper you sent. But I also have a 30 pound chunk of rose quartz I got at a garage sale that I really want to start. Ellen/Mudd1973 Los Angeles

thanks for all the kind words! ellen i cut the quartz, banjo's green stones, and a few gold tigers eye with the saw then got impatient and got the hammer out. the jasper, green adventurine, and crazy lace were bought as tumbling material so i'm guessing they went through a crusher. i don't have any equipment to preform with yet and used my tile saw to shape that heart with fingers way too close and a determined spirit. i don't think you are suppose to use the saw blade as a grinder but i did ;D. unless a rock gets too sharp that i'm worried it will damage the others i leave it in rough grind until it conforms or disappears. last night my cat knocked glitter off the top of the microwave onto my polished rocks . so now i'll have to gently hand rinse them all again. so far i've just done alot of blowing and mouthing but they are really not hurt. why was glitter up there anyway. we'll all have sparkling feet since i've blown it all over the floor ;D. kim

Kim this is the first day I have been able to see the pics and I must say you did an excellent job on shaping and polish. Kudos Kim. BTW, hows the foot coming along? Didn't you break your foot not too long ago?
