Hi all,
I just joined, having found this forum after searching for discussion of the StoneTes hand faceter. I'm a rockhound and tumble-polisher of a few years and starting to get into other lapidary projects. (I recently took a course on faceting and quite enjoyed it).
Glad to have found this group and looking forward to the discussions!
Joe

Thanks all! (I'm actually fairly bald on much of my head... probably part of why I like the pic with the preposterous 'renaissance' hat! ...plus my beard has gotten more gray in the few years that have passed since that photo. ) Oh and I'm in Portland, OR. So, lotsa jasper and a fair bit of agates to be found. Usually I trawl the tributary streams of the Willamette for carnelian in recent months, having had my fill of jasper. But now that I'm looking to buy a faceting machine, I'm planning some rockhounding trips to places I can find transparent rough. (Sunstones in OR, rock crystal and amethysts--supposedly--in California and Washington. Would love to get to Montana and try for sapphires too!)
