I have been working on a pretty large Petoskey stone tumbling project for about the last 3 months. This week I pulled aside a couple and hand polished them. I did cheat and instead of wet sanding with 600 and 1200 sandpaper I used nova wheels all the way to 3000. After the Nova wheels they were hand polished with A/O on denim followed with Zam on a buff. These were found on the shores of Lake Huron while Jugglerguy had his back turned. This one is a 12 ounce rock polished on all sides. This one is my pride and joy. Right at 2 pounds and has the pattern going all the way through the stone. This is a keeper and will be displayed. Only one side polished but will be doing the rest in stages. Snow is finally gone and sun is out Thanks for looking Chuck

Only your favorites get to go outside and play in the lawn? I’m not sure if I’m more jealous of the rocks or the green grass. One thing is sure though, I’m not going to turn my back on you next time we hunt together.

One thing is sure though, I’m not going to turn my back on you next time we hunt together. I should add that three years ago I was a Petoskey stone hunting greenhorn. You taught me what to look for. That first year I sure would have brought home a bunch of low quality stuff if you were not there to warn me about the ones that do not polish up. Chuck

Those are really beautiful Chuck Drummond Island Rocks. That rock in photo 2 is stunning. The contrast in colors/shading is pretty amazing...as is the shine. Well done.

Those are just beautiful examples. I love hand forming/polishing Petoskey Stone. By hand, I mean no power tools involved. I hope to eventually make the trip to gather some of my own Petoskey's.
