Hi all, I am a new member as of today and I have found this site to have a wealth of great information and great photo's of beautiful polished rocks and I know I will be returning daily in order to learn more about rock hounding and rock tumbling. I live in SW Utah and I now have the rock bug. Now I can have great hikes looking for cool rocks while my wife does her photography thing. Thanks much for your great website.

Welcome to the forum. Southern Utah has some good collecting spots. I know there is a lot of obsidian up there and I have seen a lot of dino bone coming from there. Forgot what else. I have not collected up there but our club made a trip a while back going to various places for the obsidian and various other things further North at Topaz Mountain and the geode fields. Most of what I looked up for Utah was more in the Southeast area.
Southern Utah you should be fairly close to Vegas. If you get down this way let me know and I can show you some good collection sites.

Well I Hope you don't let your wife know your rockhounding, let her know you love being out while she takes her photos. Score more points that way. If not I will turn into your only going so you can collect rocks = 0 points. Ha ha ha. Just kidding hope you enjoy sounds like your in a good area for rockhounding.
