Still trying to learn this- I think I need to find someone who's willing to teach me. I've done a ton of reading, but still having a hard time distinguishing between Fairburns, Prairie Agates and Lace Agates. I do know a Fairburn when I see one, but I also know a "maybe" or a "possibly" when I see one, too!! If anyone is willing to pitch in, please help... village.photos/members/Miket/More-Fairburns-

snr.unl.edu/data/geologysoils/agates/ This site has a collection of over 800 agates from around the world, but can be searched by geographic area (e.g. agates of Montana or agates from Scotland).
