Fantastic pictures James!!! The truest chartreuse colored flower I have ever seen.
I have mixed emotions about all the pollen this year though (sneeze...cough...cough) Seems like my local honey I've been enjoying for the past year missed the mark. Although everyone is complaining this year, even people who don't usually have allergies.

Great photos! That last picture needs to be submitted to a magazine or something. It's amazing. fantastic5, allergies are killing me this year. I'm going to go to the Honeyman and buy some local honey to take to see if it helps any. |

Wow, beautiful pictures James. Thanks for posting them. I love nature photography too but don't have a good camera to take them. Looks like your current camera is doing a great job of it.

Thanks, but these were actually taken with my old phone, a Galaxy S5. I have an old Nikon DSLR but the tube in the autofocus lens literally sheared apart so I have not been able to use it in a while. I looked in to replacing the lens but is over $100. So I figured for that I might as well invest in to a more up to date DSLR. That way I get better telephoto, macro, low light, etc. I can also add a cross polarizing filter, which helps a lot. Also easier to adjust settings on DSLR and I can actually see what I am shooting through the camera with a DSLR. With the cell phone you cannot see squat on the screen in daylight. |

Pollen is great stuff. Great protein source with a wide range of amino acids, minerals, carbs, vitamins, etc. Highest herbal source of pantothenic acid, which helps to support the adrenal glands, which is actually why it and raw honey work for allergies.

Great shot! This being Texas, we too have a lot of cacti. Heck I have cactus plants come up in my lawn and they even grow on tree stumps here. Amazing how many insect species utilize the flowers. My favorites here are the flower scarab beetles. Many different types and markings and they roll around in the pollen like little clowns. One actually is a bee mimic that they call the bumble bee scarab....Mel

Thanks, just bought a Sony AX 65 SLT-A65V with an 18-55mm lens and a 55-200mm lens. The reviews on the camera are great and it has 24.4MP compared to my phone which is 16MP. |

Cholla grow only in certain areas, all of sudden we'll be in a Cholla forest. I wanted Cholla skeleton for my yard but wasn't sure of the legality. I asked at the local BLM and was told "It's a $5000.00 fine to take a live or dead one!" A friend had one in his yard and gave it to me, saved a wild, dead one from life in my yard!

I am not going to get a lot of equipment. I have enough weight to carry just carrying digging tools in and out along with backpack and bags of rock the places I go. I can rarely drive to to the collection sites I go to. Most of them require hiking up the mountain. Do you know the species of bee? Does look like EHB. Thanks. I have no idea on the species. These pics were taken just North of Las Vegas in the Spring Mountain Range. |
