Whenever I receive outstanding customer service, I like to share that info with others. Today, after trips to the hardware, tractor supply, and a machine shop, and calls to several lapidary supply vendors, I called Covington Engineering, as it was one of their products I needed parts for. I have a Covington 8"x3" Expanding Drum that has no arbor bushings or flanges. The arbor I plan to mount it to is an odd bugger, homemade, 3/4" steel turned down to 0.54. It's too big for 1/2" arbor hole and this is a problem. So Brian @ Covington came up w/ this solution- He would take 2" flanges w/ a 1/2" hole, and drill them as close to 0.55/0.56 as he could get them. Best part? No charge for the drilling service. Please also note I have not ordered from them previously, so this Royal treatment is the most pleasant surprise.

Covington is one place where you get a real person who actually has a saw and experience when you call. I've talked with him about the complex design and operational adjustment of Covingtons drive clutch. He was helpful and gentle with someone who was not excited about the design when the call was placed.

I believe I've mentioned it here at RTH before, Covington Engineering is only a couple of blocks from my office.......very fortunate. Have spent lot's of time over the counter with Dan and Ashlee discussing many aspects of tumbling, grinding, media, ect. They are a great group of folks and very patient with newbees like myself. When I had a Alum head threaded (twice) to match the metric threads on one of my grinders, and it still didn't fit properly, they suggested the faceting discs and gave me credit for the head (and Sic discs) towards the purchase of a second faceting disc, at a discount.
They are even interested in your results and have asked to see samples........which I have done occasionally.....both Dan and Ashlee tumble stones, Dan vibes and knows I use Lyman Turbo's with the TV-5 bowls I purchase from him.....he's always curious about how it is holding up....lol
They've been around for a very long time and will (can) custom build/design almost anything needing CNC machining and special welding. That's how I discovered them 11yrs ago, when my sons converted street racer "72 Comet" needed special rear suspension brackets made for his trick independent set-up........!

They are wonderful people for sure. When I decided to sell my chop saw line I did not consider selling to anyone else.

COVINGTON IS INSANELY AWESOME! HERES MY STORY: I called them about my star diamond I had with play in arbor. Star diamond sold them as unit with bearings shaft and casing all in one and don't have it anymore. I asked and got not much help for bearing and people hadn't changed them before. Covington said they would change the bearing for me for 35.00. I sent it and then they called said housing had broke and they don't make them anymore : ( - Then the rep said he contacted a guy who made them for star diamond and barranca diamonds same model saw years ago. They commissioned him to build me a One Off arbor housing for this saw with new bearings and new arbor shaft. They said they would just charge me their cost on it. Needless to say, they shipped me a brand new custom built replica of star diamond 10" arbor housing brand new, AND THEY ONLY CHARGED ME 35.00!!! and no shipping costs. ARE YOU KIDDING!? I thought - best customer service I have experience in years hands down. I don't own much covington but stand and support them and their products - Who offers to do work on another brands saw and then goes out of way and charges me probably way less than their cost for this. Just awesome - saw post and wanted to share! Bummed that saw was stolen somewhat recently - another story : (
