Hey Lotarocks44,
That may be tough, without actually seeing the rock itself.
Does it have any conchoidal indications (a shell like fracture)? Or does the edges have a straight fracture surface? Does the composition of the rock look glassy or dull? Can you see any crystal particles in that rock?
I know, too many questions!
It looks like a piece of petrified wood that I have in my shop.
Enjoy,
John

I have found petrified wood in every state that I have ever lived in (which just happens to be every one of the western and central states). We have some petrified wood roughly 80 miles north of my home, but it is not suitable for cutting or tumbling. The wood has been replaced by calcite and it makes a nice display piece, but that is about it. If it is pertified wood, keep your eyes open as you are bound to find more . Enjoy, John

After having seen a few pieces of petrified wood and cut them to bits....slabs.... I come to the same conclusion :" petrified wood"
