It is made in Santa Anna CA. Went to hardware store. Was the only customer there. Regular employee asked me what I needed. Just said 3 in One oil to get me in the right place. He took me to that section and asked what I was using it for. Told him I was looking for something better than 3 in One to lubricate bearings on a rock tumbler. Go figure. He does lapidary work as a hobby. Said the 3 in One reduces bearing life, due to the gumming effect. Said he used the turbine oil and it worked great. Price was less than the 3 in One. He uses it every other month in his tumblers and as needed for other equipment.
I purchased a small bottle.

My dad was a maintenance man in a power station, he always used turbine oil on the ways (the moving slidy bits) of his lathe. He said it was some kind of vegetable oil.

Turbine oils are high quality mineral oils, most modern turbine oils have anti wear and anti corrosive additives. I used to get it in the zoom spout bottles for damper oil on SU and stromberg CD type carburetors on old euro cars.
According to Lortone no oil should ever be used on the plastic bearings on their small tumblers. We've never tested that, built and bought HD tumbler bases long ago with sealed bearing pillow blocks.

I have a duel barrel tumbler from Harbor Freight, Chicago Electric brand. Instructions and reviews said bearings must be oiled monthly. I was oiling once, maybe twice a day, even with the 3 in One oil.

Hi Lee, do you have a specific source for this? I know Lortone mentions in their tumbler manuals that the motors don't need to be oiled, but as to the shaft bearings, the manuals mention a drop of oil for each bearing every 30 days. If there's something new out, that would be great. But, I just checked the manuals on the Lortone site, and they still read as they used to. Not looking to challenge - just looking for clarity. Thanks and regards.

We were always fighting those tumbler bases for sure though.

OK...thanks. Lortone IS pretty explicit about not over-oiling them, so perhaps between that and the fact that the motors don't require oil, maybe something got lost in translation on her behalf. Thanks for the reply.

Basically consider the Turbine oil to be a very high quality 10W oil. My little gas turbine only took 3000 gallons.

I've been using turbine oil in a zoom spout bottle for the bushings (they're not "bearings) in my Lortone tumblers. It doesn't seem to accumulate as much gunk as the 3-in-1 type oil I had previously used.
