On hiatus until I get more solution Somehow mine got contaminated For now I'm playing with resin and am going to combine the 2 Glass I finished and a Montana agate ring

Now you got it dialed in MsAli. Those are spectacular and that metallic finish is killer. #1 is a melt shard from Matt Janke. The encasement I like is #2 with that copper blob swallowing the stone. More of these please

The mandrel makes a world of difference. The rings are very nice.

Copper is a most pleasurable metal to work with. IMO best metal to begin with.

Maybe graduate down, leaving more and more of the tip areas exposed, covering the shaft just to the point where the white "stripe" meets the shaft on the left side. Kind of a triangle effect from that point upward.
