Tomorrow, I'm going to do a little and I mean little lapidary work. This is actually a small, wedge shaped piece of rough. I'm to grind the edges, mark the sides and cut two small slabs (about the size of a dime). I already noticed that there is a fracture on the left of the light colored spot. If the slab underneath the face is nice. I'll smooth the edges and polish the face. I'm thinking earrings, rings or belt buckles for a cat.
I haven't done anything for two years.

The piece is now about the size of a dime and 1/2 inch thick. The other side isn't as nice and the piece tapers. I'll probably get only one slab and smaller than what it is now.

I split the piece with my trim saw and it won't take much to make the slab even. Next step is grind the matrix and skin of the edges to see more about how shallow the pattern is. The inner pencil mark is an 11/16" oval. I'm probably going to polish the top and put it away. I don't think I am ready for cutting a small calibrated cab. I got another slab out if the split but it isn't attractive.
