Well, here's a pic of my tumbling set up. I was sitting at the head of my bed when I took this pic, so I get lulled to sleep each night to the sound of my rocks rolling. Keep all my barrels, grit and pellets in jars in the cabinet with the door open. I have all my buckets and other optional stuff in the cabinet to the far right - just forgot to open the door. Also have a small shelf system in my clothes closet where I keep all my 10 lb. sacks of grit and other assorted stuff I don't need to get to often. Good thing too, because I have to move a bunch of stuff to get to it! I have my vibe in the basement because it is so loud. The two tumblers on the right are the used ones I got on eBay. They ain't pretty, but since I took them completely apart and gave them new motors, they roll those rocks just like the new one on the left. I bought some emery cloth and spray paint to sand and paint them when I had them apart, BUT, I figured what's more important - having them look pretty or rolling rocks. As you can see, the rolling rocks won! The newer one is not rolling rocks - the only other barrels I have are 2 for pre-polish and 1 for polish. If I had some rocks to go in coarse, I would have loaded the prepolish barrels and they would be rolling. But, BE and I haven't cut rocks lately and I don't have anything to put in them! YIPES! My 5 gallon bucket of rocks to cut are at BE's. We are in the process of setting us up a little workshop area at her house and hopefully we will get it set up enough to at least get to cutting rocks again SOON! We haven't even opened the box with the 10" tile saw in it, much less set it up. Can you believe that? I am going to set up my grinder in the closet where I used to have the QT66 and grit stuff. Heading to the lumber store to get wood to build a table for it. The closet is the perfect size - 30 X 28 - Sands said I needed the grinder and motor mounted on a 24 X 26 sheet of plywood - so that will fit perfectly in the closet with room for my chair. I'll post pics when I get that done. Don't hold your breath though! I hope I can get it done this afternoon and tomorrow since I don't have to work, but things always take longer than I think it will. That's my green piggy bank front left by the fan. It's full of nickles, dimes and pennies (quarters go elsewhere for the laundry). I'm gonna have to bust piggy open and roll those coins soon. Trying to decide where to spend them - Oh, I know, at the ROCK SHOP! ;D llana

Cher, I live in a 36' RV with Max, my dog, so there just ain't a whole lot of room. My bedroom stays clean (most of the time), except the pile of dirty clothes in the corner, because I am only in here when I sleep. You should see the rest of the place! LOL! Esp. when I have things all strung out working on one of my craft projects! Sometimes I just have a small path from the kitchen through the livingroom to the bath and bedroom. It get's pretty scary. Another reason it is so clean and neat is because I just got it all set up last night. Ask me to post pics of it next week and it might look like a hurricane blew through. ;D

Hi Llana, did you guys get alot of rain last night? A guy here at work that lives in Rio Medina said he got 9 inches. >I have my vibe in the basement because it is so loud.< You have an RV with a basement??? That's weird. When you drive it do you unhook the basement some how and leave it at home.
Speaking of rock cutting sessions, I spent about 4 hrs Saturday night cutting on the slab saw and drinking beer. I started out trying to cut cubes from a piece of agate and wound up settling for "cube like" cuts. I waound up with some pretty interesting shapes. I'll post some pics maybe next week when they come out of the first round of 60-90.
Later Bob

Nothing strange about that Bob, my motorhome has a basement and it goes with me where ever I go. The term basement refers to the area under the floor of the unit.
Hey Llana, my motorhome is a 31 foot Class A and I don't know how you manage all of your stuff. Best place to be when it rains is in your RV. The sound of the rain on the roof is a great sound to sleep to. Of course, with your rocks, you don't even have to wait for rain.
I'm anxious to see how you do with your new 10 incher. Time to get it out of the box and fire that baby up!

Hi All, Bob-We only got 3.2 inches last night, but it really blew and rained HARD for awhile. Thought we were in for yet another flood, but thankfully that didn't happen!
Ron, I'm getting kinda anxious to 'fire that baby up', and even tho Llana and I have alot of work we need to do on our work area over here, I imagine the next 'work' will consist of running an extension cord to the new workbench that's already in place and setting up the 10"er. After all, what's more important - building/setting up a shop..... or cutting more rocks?
LZ, your new tumbler set up looks pretty good. How did you sleep last night with all the tumblers running in there?

Llana, Nice little set up. I can't begin to imagine having the tumblers on the headbord of the bed, but then again, we use a white noise machine to help us sleep and that's about the same, but it doesn't move! If I were single, lord help us, I'd have such a mess for a home ;D Trying to keep it on the dining room table and spare bedroom for now, but the basement is just a matter of time. I mean, where else can I put the saw and grinder I will (no dought) eventualy own? ;D I don't know how loud a rotary is, but in polish, the vibe will sing to ya! Brought it up from the basement to the spare bedroom, we just turn the TV up a notch Have you done anything with the quartz (that I hope is rutillated) I sent? I've been doing some I kept and, yup, it's rutillated, but it's going to take time to get the matrix off. The rutilation seems to be closested to the matrix, so it's taking a while. Good Luck ;D cookie

Very nice Llana!! I don't know how you keep things so neat and clean. My rock shop consists of 2-1/2 rooms and it's a total disaster!! Tom

Hey BE, I know what you mean. I tried to keep my work area better arranged, but when I got my saw, I just couldn't wait. I set it up temporarily in front of my Radial Arm Saw, and that's where it still sits! I don't want to shut it down long enough to move things around. Thing I'll have to soon though. The basement is definitely out of control!
Most of the 10"ers that I looked at from China use a 2.5 hp motor. If you have to run power, make sure you use a heavy enough cord to handle the amperage.
Take care, Ron

Ron, Glad you brought that up. I was looking at extension cords yesterday at Walmart. We're going to have to run probably an 80 to 100 foot cord to get from the one exterior outlet that I have that runs off its own 30 amp breaker. I haven't measured it with a tape yet. I'm fairly certain that a 16 gauge won't handle the 10" saw, etc. Would a 14 gauge do it, or should we go to a 12?
Will appreciate any suggestions!

Hey BE, if you're looking at 80 to 100 feet, I'd go with the 12 gauge wire. I know it's a little costly, but you shouldn't have to worry about melting down the cord or burning up your motor. Let me know how it goes.

Your setup looks so pretty and clean. Right now, mine is a reck! I have aluminum oxide prepolish that spilled all over the table, grit lying about, oil stains etc... Time to clean it up! Nice setup btw!
