"SUWANNE COUNTY DOWLING PARKS, SE 5 mi., mine⎯Malachite."
I think I'd offer to eat my hat if there really was a Malachite mine in Suwanee County, FL.
I could find a mention of a Malachite butterfly, but even then I think it lives further south in Florida.
I did enjoy the chuckle.

Well if you find out anything different Johnny, I'd love to know. Heck I'd even drive down & get a couple of pieces. I'm thinking that if I could stretch my mind that the account is true,
they'd have to dig pretty deep to find some, maybe all the way to Africa

I tend to agree that I would be surprised if there was malachite in FL. However, if I read mindat right, it's there. www.mindat.org/loc-106953.html

I had read that @ rockjunquie, but when I link and read about every mine, pit , or quarry in Suwanee County and none of them mention Malachite, only Limestone , Phosphate, Calcite, OR just " stone".
So seriously if anyone knows first hand where the Malachite is in Florida, I'm all ears.

I know nothing about the area, but I know malachite appears everywhere a copper meteorite has struck.
Yeah, "there are no copper meteors" Blah. blah, blah.
Sorry to inform, but in my opinion the copper in every mine on earth fell from the sky at some time. Perhaps a later volcano pipe penetrated that layer and brought some of it to the surface, but that is the extent of it.

These links seem broken.... I'm getting a redirect.viglink or something like that. Not sure if its on my end or what? That's ProBoards. They replace every link with a unique link per user, and they monitor every click you make. They know how everyone is getting around this forum already, but they also want to know at which points we jump off to external sites. They can't track us there, but they can at least know when we've left. I'm guessing you have an adblocker that intercepts their tracking domain, making it look like the link is broken. What I do is click the "quote" button and then copy and paste the original unmolested link into my browser.
