They're all great. I love the blues and greens, and the yellow and orange jasper is really nice too!

Any snakes where you collect? That copper ore looks off the chart I have been here all my life and spent a lot of time in these deserts and mines. I have only seen about 6 snakes here my entire life. Only 4 were rattlers.
Saw one sidewinder while out with Jax, but she did not see it since she was off chasing lizards. The only snake she saw was this one in the back of a mine and it was hissing so loud. Scared the heck out of both of us when that thing started hissing.
Here are some of the others I have run across:

Not sure if I've ever seen copper ore. That is really neat looking stuff. Nice finds. Chyrsocolla is a copper ore, but out here there are so many copper minerals in the copper mines including malachite, azurite, cuprite, rosasite, bornite, gilalite, beaverite, turquoise, covelite, dioptase, chrysocolla, digenite, libethenite, tenortie, etc, etc, etc.
Here are some examples of cabs from the copper ores here:
The lime green in the center of this one is actually bromargyrite (silver bromide):
And some knife scales from copper ores:
The scales on this one are silicated chrysocolla (chalcedony stained with copper salts):
Here are more copper ore slabs:
This copper ore also contains bromargyrite:
Here is a 51 pound piece of rough:
And some other rough:

Pretty amazing stuff vegasjames. As much as I like the rocks, that photo of the king snake is great. I have family in Vegas, and one nephew works for LVMPD. Next time I'm out there (during the cool months), I would love to meet up and hound with you if you are inclined to guide visitors.

Next time I'm out there (during the cool months), I would love to meet up and hound with you if you are inclined to guide visitors. There are places I don't mind taking people. As you can see from the pics I tool Mel "melhill1659" and her sister and her sister's husband out to one of the copper mines recently. Took Mel and her husband out I think it was late last summer or early fall last year as well. And took a couple from North Carolina out to dig read and regular selenite crystals and look for garnet bearing rocks a few months back. And I took some relatives from Massachusetts out last winter to look for fossils and black agate then I took them up to a copper mine to dig. Took a guy from California and his nephew out to dig crystals then the next day out for fossils and a copper mine last fall.
I just don't want people posting locations and prefer they turn off the GPS on their cameras so the coordinates are not recorded with the photos. I don't want to see these places overrun and I actually prefer the solitude when I go out. Normally it is just Jax and I when I go out. Quiet and peaceful.
In a few months when it cools off I will be hitting some sites heavily. Have something to check out at one mine that really has my interest and I have a lead on an area that is supposed to have green obsidian all over the place. Been out there twice so far and have not found the obsidian but found a lot of other cool stuff. And have a couple of other places marked off to check out just North of there and located several possible turquoise deposits I want to check out. Those trips will be a camping trip so I have plenty of time to check them all out. So I will not be around a whole lot starting in September. Let me know in advance if you are coming this way and I will try to leave that time open.

I am not looking to hone in on your spots, and the GPS/camera issue is a non-issue for me. Should I be heading out to your neck of the woods, I'll let you know. Thanks for entertaining me coming along with you. I will let you know when I'm next out there. It should be noted, it really doesn't happen that often.

Thanks for all the pics of the different copper ores you've found. The ore with the azurite in it is absolutely killer! Do you ever find ore with native copper in it? That's my husband's absolute favorite. The first year I moved to AZ, we bought a whole flat of it from a vendor at our show. He was would only sell the whole flat, so we bought it for I think $70 (a bargain!). We've never come across any more, although we always look. All the cabs from that flat that we cut sold in no time.

There is a series of copper mines in one area up there. Have not checked the main mines yet but found some in an isolated mine a couple of miles away.

Thanks for the really nice rock show. I never realized there are so many different materials called copper ore, pretty stuff. Most people just refer to most copper ores as chyrsocolla, but that creates confusion with the actual mineral chrysocolla, which is a copper silicate. So I prefer to use the term copper ore since there over a dozen copper minerals found in the area. Some are pretty easy to identify such as the cuprite, azurite and dioptase but some of the others look so similar to other minerals that it makes it hard to identify.
