this is a photo taken from the bridge (our side) at the creek that borders our property...unfortnately, it is all slate and useless for tumbling.... this is taken from the other side of the bridge looking at our lower lawn... this is standing on that lower lawn part, looking up at the side of the house... and this is standing sort of in the front yard looking back down at the creek...and yes, there are trout in there, this is quite a shallow part, but there are pools and it gets deeper upstream... but before you get TOO jealous, remember THIS is what it looks like in the wintertime... a lot of folks think when you say "i live in NY" that it means the city (NEW YAWK CITY?, get a rope!) but you can see, i live in the sticks.... thanks for looking, KD

What a beautiful place, even if it doesn't have cool rocks to tumble! Sure would hate to mow that yard though, if it's a big as it looks! And come winter, I would be haulin' a** for a warmer climate! llana

Beautiful view! I could imagine the creek visited at dawn by some interesting wild animals. Very relaxing pictures

thanks guys, for all the nice remarks....
yes , lottarocks, the water is so shallow the rocks suck up heat and it is like bathwater...more than once i have washed up or just sat in the deep bits to soak. darn minows try and bite your toes to, weird feeling....
llana, takes me about 2 hours to mow, wide open, on a good dry day.......longer if it is damp and high, and i can take all summer to do the trimming.........we occasionally do the snowbird thing and GO somewhere mid- February.....Tucson is looking real possible this year!!!! ;D
Shorty, i've immersed in it with clothes on, fished in it (with clothes also) and heard raccoons, coy dogs and all other kinds of critters (possums, fox, woodchucks, weasels) in it at night, but ain't ever seen big foot! in the spring it looks a helluva lot meaner than the pictures show, it can rage.
thanks, KD

in the spring i have seen kayaks go by, makes a helluva noise tho whacking up against the rocks. in the winter it freezes over bigtime and people cross country ski up it. most people just fish it or swim/soak in it.

My son's first question was "are there fish in it"? I said I think so. His second question was "where is it"? I said "New York. Oh thats too far! We could take a plane ride!
Gorgeous place. Your house looks high enough above the creek to avoid the spring thaw!

What do you mean before you get too jealous, the snowy picture is what made me jealous!! We don't get enough snow here in Keizer Oregon.

HOLY COW KD...
I'll have to post some photo's of our lay of the land ... you'll get sick at the first photo.
Hardly any trees, no green grass, the closest stream/river is 25 miles north of mt and it's DRY ... next closest stream/river another 20 miles west ... In Colorado!!! I do get to look at some nice Milo, Corn and Wheat fields though ...
There are more trees in that first photo than there is within a 10 mile radius of my home ... NO KIDDING!!!
If you see trees in our area of the country ... people live there!
Great photo's!!! My wife is from North Central Pennsylvania and it looks very similar to your part of the world. Simply gorgeous...
Enjoy,
John

KD-GREAT looking place! It's beautiful! But I sure wouldn't want to be there during the winter. Warmer weather must be why I've lived in Texas all my life!
Thanks for showing us pictures of your piece of the planet!

Hey KD, I love upstate NY! My family came to Michigan in 1824 form New York state. I have spent a lot of time in the upstate areas doing research. I live in Genesee County, Michigan, and my ancestors lived in Genesee County, New York. Before that they lived in Fort Ann in Washington County, New York. My family has always seemed to like the hilly country, must be why I chose a hilly spot to build my house. The biggest lesson I learned there was, never travel the toll road driving a motorhome towing a Jeep CJ7. Cost me nearly $50 and I wasn't even across the state yet! Now I drive US20, no matter how long it takes.
