Is there a significant difference? I bought a small piece of morrisonite rough and inspecting it I'm getting mixed messages. Either it has a lot of matrix and little jasper or more jasper. I'm going to grind off the matrix so I can see what's going on to determine the orientation for the cut.The face cut is small and I'm hoping to get slightly larger slabettes with a different orientation. It feels heavy for it's size.

I had so many possible cut lines that I forgot what my plan was and made a bad cut and ended up with a wedge shaped lump. I tried to rescue it and ended up with the first picture. I showed it to my wife and she said toss it. I saw a freeform design that would deal with all the issues. I only stated, but will be pleased with the cab ]

Rescuing those small pieces can be great mental and skill set challenges. I recently worked with a dozen small irregular pieces of morrisonite that were too pretty to throw away, too small to make traditional cabs, and yes, too much of a challenge to ignore. I shaped them a bit, ran them through a short sequence in the vibe and am still letting them float around on my work bench where they attract attention from visitors. That's far better than letting them go to waste.
