Was looking around for advice on how to tumble soft stones and those with undercutting issues. Found mention on RTH and elsewhere about using Karo Syrup or making a sugar saturation.
Only actual instructions said to use four times the amount of sugar as pre-polish/polish or double the syrup.
Since I was running the Tears and cabs in final polish, decided to give it a try. I had only put in 2 TBS polish to start, along with saved polish slurry. So, let the barrel sit a couple hours, then poured off excess water. Somehow managed to not let any plastic filler escape. Added 4 TBS basic sugar (a lot less than was recommended). Stirred everything around, replaced lid and back to rollin’.
Does anyone here use sugar when tumbling? If so, would appreciate your comments. Thank you.

They were in polish for 2 days already. Will be checking every other day to see what happens. Yes, rotary.
