I have been working with this for over 2 months now, and I think this is as good as it is going to get. This is Autmn Jasper I got from Redwoodrocks and WilliamC. (Where is WilliamC?) Following the RTH SOP's as posted by James, many moons ago, I was sure that Titanium Oxide would work great. So sure in fact that I told KD to use it and the results would astound her. But after running these for 7 days in Titanium, I was a little dissappointed in the results. I usually have to only run it 4 or 5 days following the 1000 grit cycle. Two problems were evident. 1. I had too many other types of rocks in the load and 2. these were a mixed hardness even within themselves. So backing up I put them in Tin Oxide fo 7 days, which seems to work well for softer stones. Not sure whether to continue to persue this or just leave well enough alone. You be the judge(s) and judge(ette's). The one stone I tried to get a close up on looks like a cave with water flowing out (or in) to it. Thanks-

those are cool, Banjo, and i think that is as good as they are gonna get. i just looked at mine after 4 days in SISA and was debating about what to polish them in (for the third time) so you tipped the scales and i will try the Tin Ox one more time and then call it a day. you got some great patterns there, Banjo.....i'll be posting mine in another week or so.
thanks for you moral support and collaboration!

Kind of a cross between a satin and high gloss finish. I can't give you any help as to whether or not you should go further but I can tell you they look really nice. Love the awesome patterns it has.

Thanks, It is just really tough to shine a stone with different layers of varying hardnesses. Some are just brilliant and others, well, not so brilliant. I guess I could try to hand polish the ones I just can't do without and see how that goes. But, uh......um, this is a tumblers forum.

Hey Banjo , I like those rocks. The close-up one reminds me of one of the many narrow streets I have seen on the island of Sicily last april , paved with basalt...rather strikingly. Awesome!!!
For the type of rock, you got a good shine.

banjo what you are describing is what i experienced with the leopardskin jaspers that have rhyolite in them. i never could attain what i wanted and the longer i tried the worse it seemed to be getting. so i finally gave up on them with some that were nice, some mediocre, and some that remained oppositional defiant to the process. yours seem to have done better than that and the pics of them are great!

Hello Banjo:) I'm certainly far from being an expert but I really like them!!! Yes! I could see the water coming out of the cave in your last pic!!! Autumn jaspers are soo beautiful, I will like to try them eventually. My first batch is far from being complete , about half of my rocks are in their 3rd week of 60/90, the other half is on the pre-polish step. They are just common rocks that I found myself so I'm not expecting to get anything as beautiful as your work. I'm actually really curious to see how my common rocks will look at the end. I enjoyed looking at your pics!
