Here we go, I started my first-ever batch of rocks in the tumbler. Here's a picture of what I put in- feel free to point out my errors! Attachments:![](//storage.proboards.com/1258779/thumbnailer/MivBrOZaViAJIYIvkSrp.png)

The only suggestion and a couple questions and I am by no means a tumbling expert
Get some smaller pieces in there with them. You want a good mix of sizes
Are all these in 1 barrel or did you split them up?
Did you get the peas size gravel?

I tried to mix some of the larger stones with some of the smaller stones I used two barrels figuring that some would be ready to move on and some wouldn't- hoping that they would decide that themselves ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) There were some smaller gravel sized rocks that I threw in with them I figure what the heck, I'll see what I learn in a week Thanks for the tips!

One more thing- I am aware that some of the ones I put in are pitted and they will stay in the rough stage longer, obviously That part was more of an experiment

Yes, make mistakes early and learn from them. Way to go!
Best of luck. GP

I was so excited when I got my first tumbler in December 2016, about 19 months ago. After unpacking the machine I went out in the garden and got a buncha random rocks and tumbled them dry just so I could hear & see it working. It was rather loud here in the house too.
But now you're in trouble like I am now, You will never be able to just casually walk past a rock again . . .

I know I'm in trouble. Dropped off my grandson at his other grandparents house when I had to get some dental stuff done in Rapid City and the entire time his other grandma was talking I was standing there looking at their rocks! Pretty sure I've lost it.
