If it was not America yet were they really the first explorers to America?
Lot of groups came to this land long before Columbus got here. The Norwegians hunted whales up and down the Coast, Chinese anchors from the 14th century were found off of what is today known as the Palos Verdes coast, etc. The oldest mummy in the U.S. was found around Fallon Nevada and is about 5,000 years old. He was tall, white and had red hair. The Washita people have also been here over 5,000 years, long before Columbus and even before the Native Americans. And there are still plenty of others.

As far as explorers go- I've always been intrigued by the Red Paint People. They are a complete mystery. I can't get the video to play, so I don't know if they were addressed. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Paint_People

Back in 1955 when I started studying archaeology and geology the experts knew everything.
