I find labradorite difficult to work. I think I am too aggressive with the galaxy wheels. I haven't tried any more in a long time. I'm thinking I should give it another shot. It polished well, but I tend to grind out the color. What grit did you start with? I think I'll try the 220 nova wheel first next time.

I started with 100, 220, 400, 600 then flat lap I was definitely too hard on it I'll take them back to the 400 and see how it goes It's such a pretty stone, but not as easy as I thought it would be

You seem to be cutting thew moonstone against the grain. Is there a reason for that?

The little moonstone that I have worked thus far, always showed chattoyancy along the cleavage (along the grain). Same as labradorite..... hence my question.

As always, its extremely hard to get the colours head on. In carving its a bit easier, as one is bound to get at least some angles right.

Now that is beautiful flash! I can see why you like the Spectrolite more. That has some amazing color.

Like others have said the "blue goldstone" is like gazing up at the night sky, especially the second photo. Labradorite is one of my favorites, but I have difficulty with it like you mentioned. I like your third photo of the lab. Those are some cool pieces Kurt posted in this link too - shows what you can get with the right starting material and carving skills.
