After 6 weeks in rotary I am setting these aside for now. Waiting for better polish to arrive. They had already been through a rough and possibly medium tumble prior to my receiving them. Very smooth. Will try the better polish later. Wet: 1 all 2 close Flickr 1 close Mostly Dry: 3 allThey are mostly very translucent: lit The strange thing is that the gloss was greater after pre-polish than after polish. Some kept a little of the gloss, especially the smaller ones. All of the larger ones went back to what they looked like after the 1 week stint in a mix of medium and pre-polish. Maybe my experimenting with using a sugar solution compromised some of the polish? That was a recommendation found here and elsewhere, to use the sugar or corn syrup to bring out the shine. I did notice that each time I checked the tumbler, the slurry had a gray tint to it. I figured this was from some of the Tears. All were soaked for 24 hours and washed after that. Barrel was completely washed. Also did a 24 hour tumbler run in laundry soap. First without the Tears, then another with. Then used just polish and new filler pellets for a week in a 1 lb barrel. There was no change in appearance. I am not giving up on these, as they are high quality Tears that are almost there. Just part of the learning process.

You have a perfectly shaped group, just need to find the right recipe that works! I agree - just wait for the right materials and try again - beautiful specimens!
