I remember that someone here had purchased whole Turitella shells from The Rock She had had great success with them. I contacted them about availability yesterday. They said it was a limited supply and they have not found a source for more.
Does anyone have any for sale? Either to me or to The Rock Shed in Bulk?
Thank you

I saw some locally here in Northern CO, west of Loveland a little place called The Blue Stone was selling baggies of it, I got one to play with. Maybe they'll ship? I'm moving to WY at the end of the month and that's where the stuff is found iirc.

Typing 'turritella shells' in the RTH affiliated Amazon search bar below yields two results right on top. Is this what you are looking for?

Looking for the fossilized version. OH - well you said whole turritella shells so I assumed you wanted whole turritella shells My bad. So you're looking for the lapidary material fossilized turritella? I see it all the time at gem shows - usually in slab form though.

Yes, the slabs/crushed are common. The whole is harder to find. Should have purchased it when I could.

You need to use the right search words: goniobasis rough
Here is a link to one site selling it. I have never done business with this company, nor do I know if they are in stock, or if the company is even still in business. There is a toll-free number on the site, I'd give them a call before going through the ordering process.
Another website that says it has rough link .
Good luck!
ETA - Looks like the shop the second link points to is in a state of transition. But if you click on "About Us" on the first page, they list an email address you where you can contact them.

OK I think I got it now - when you say "whole" you are referring to uncut rough? Looks like The Gem Shop has it in stock. thegemshop.com/collections/rough-rock-1/products/turritella-agate-2Edit to add: I've purchased from them at least six times with good results but they are just bin-picking so if you have specific sizes etc. be sure to request it up front or else you'll get what you get as I found out on my last purchase of some Nature's Paintbrush.

No, he’s looking for the agatized turitella shells only. To polish I assume. Someone here did it recently.

That makes sense that she is looking for the whole ones.
These photos taken from a trip report that John herchenx did in 2012.
Some of the shells had decayed off the agate inside them, leaving an agatized cast.:

No, he’s looking for the agatized turitella shells only. To polish I assume. Someone here did it recently. Yes, the loose fossils do weather out of the matrix at the top layer. I've seen handfuls listed on ebay a time or two, but I don't know of any regular sellers. Sorting out the broken pieces from the whole agatized shells is probably too time consuming to be worth it. The spiral interiors (with the shell part chipped or polished away) make odd but interesting gems. Edit to add: That makes sense that she is looking for the whole ones.

The "Turritella" beds around Wamsutter, WY are loaded. Not really the salt water snail Turritella though, actually a brackish water snail called Goniobasis. John sent me some from his trip and they tumbled real nice....Mel

Sorry tommy I was just trying to isolate what he wanted not contradict you! No worries! I was actually laughing not just posting emoticons. Got three cabs done on an otherwise unproductive day ... unless you count grocery shopping as productive...I don't haha
