Nice material and you made it look awesome. Yup, it's usually cut so that the "tube" is elongated. When you slice them in half you get roses and buds.

Since the first time I saw the rose pattern in Mary Ellen, I have been in love with it. This is probably the best rose cab I have cut. Of course, this comes from the Mary Ellen Master himself, Billy, toiv0 . Thank you! Very nice, you did it proud and got an excellent polish. I am suppose to have 150 lbs of new material waiting when I get home.
