Well, right or wrong I pulled some more out of my first tumble It's been 5 weeks, still don't have enough to go to the next stage I decided I could live with a few minor "imperfections"- plus, I have a bunch more lined up to go in If anyone has time to look at 17 rocks and give me some input, here's the link: village.photos/members/Miket/5-weeks-in-first-tumbleI promise I won't do this every time I take out a rock! I'll wait until they're finished

I think those are pretty nicely shaped. Really, it comes down to what makes you happy and what you want to accomplish. I think you'll learn over time that with certain material, every single "flaw" may not be removed, or more may form as time goes on. If you are happy with pulling them, that's all that really matters.
ETA: The only caveat I'll give is that with the more deep crevasses and such that are left, you'll just have to be a bit more diligent with cleaning between stages to avoid moving along trapped grit. Small pits, in comparison, usually aren't a problem.

Quality in - quality out. These stones look fine. If you wish to shortcut the next tumble buy a cheap tile saw and use it before throwing them back in the barrel. Really though don't worry about appearances. Anything can be fixed, it's just a matter of time budgeting and sometimes it just isn't worthwhile. We're not gonna run out of rocks any time soon.

Ah yes, time and budget Both in short supply at times True about plenty of rocks...they're out there waiting to be found

I think they are all nicely shaped. I would move them on. For more overall round shape only a pre shaping with a saw will do it. All the natural edges you have there look great in terms of tumble shapes.

Thanks for the tips!
I do have a tile saw, maybe I'll shape the next ones
