The Tears had been through 6 weeks of medium, polish and pre-polish by me. They arrived already through coarse and probably some medium. The cabs had been through 6 weeks of medium, pre-polish and polish. The tumbles had been through 6 weeks of coarse, medium, pre-polish and polish. All came out of polish duller than when they went in. All are now rolling away in AO 12,000 polish with real polishing plastic pellets. All rocks had been through a 24 hour cleaning tumble in detergent. I ran the tumbler barrels through the dishwasher. Being hyper sure there is no contamination from previous polish. BTW. I was able to repair my childhood tumbler, so can have 3 barrels going at once. Wish me luck, as I really want these batches to turn out. Below photos were taken dry. tears cabs tumbles

Are they all running in the same barrel? More specifically, are the Apache tears by themselves? Only reason I ask is that I see some material that looks like agate, pet wood, and/or jasper. Personally, I'd be leery about running the harder stuff with the obsidian due to potential for scratching the softer material.

Each photo above is in a separate barrel. The Tears in a 1 lb and the cabs and tumble rocks each in a 3 lb. Three barrels total. Yes, I am learning about what to mix and not mix.

"I ran the tumbler barrels through the dishwasher. Being hyper sure there is no contamination from previous polish." That should be the key. No doubt some sorta contaminant foiled your first attempt. Best of luck, but I know you're gonna knock it out of the park!
