Hey, Tommy expressed interest in 400 grit for his flat lap. I'm reticent to buy a big bag since I'm not currently using it. Would it be reasonable to use 400 instead of the 500 I'm currently using for stage 3? Seems there shouldn't be a huge difference, just wondering if going to 400 for stage 3 would decrease the efficacy of the 1200 ao I currently use for stage 4 due to a bigger "step" between grit sizes? For reference, I'm moving to stages 2-5 in a Lot-o but have very little experience with it to date because I'm spending lots and lots of time on rough in my 4 rotary barrels, and very slowly accumulating material I think is ready to move on. Thanks for your thoughts! Argh

run them both for two weeks, in a 15 lb. barrel and the grit well break down to 1200 grit.

I'm following to see what the rotary experts think. I don't rotary tumble but when I did years ago I would not have jumped from 400 to 1200 - I would have gone 400 - 600 - 1000 all of which are grits I have. I'm not even sure I would make that jump in my vibe... IDK. I'm not a very good tumbler though so I've got lots to learn. Please don't feel any pressure to accomidate my request though. I just realized yesterday that I'm down to my last couple of tablespoons of 400 so I'm going to stock up with a bag from Ebay that will last a while.
