I have 2 Loritone Rotary tumblers and I have tried twice to tumble Labradorite Once with plastic pellets and once with ceramic pellets - going down to 1000 grit before polish Both times they came out awful. Scratched, pitted, etc. What am I doing wrong?

Hi and welcome from California I haven't tumbled this YET, knowing that it is going to be a touchy one Are you tumbling it by itself?

You are attempting a tumble that the pros have not perfected yet for many different reasons.

I have the same problem and do not have an answer. I tumbled my Labrodite all by itself and it looked fairly good until I got to the later stages of the tumbling and ast that point it looked just like yours.

piobaireI have tried tumbling Labradorite with other stones and then by themselves (50-50 stones and pea gravel... failed I have tried to finish them in a vibe using a Mini-Sonic MT-4 and again in my Lot-O... failed I tried running them through my Lot-O using AO-500 for 4 days followed with 3 days using AO-1000... failed I tried the same only using Sic-600 and Sic-1200... failed Your pictures melonesaj look about the same. I started with 8 lbs of rock, and I am now down to 2.5 lbs. I have them in a small Ziploc bag on the shelf next to similar bags (and failures) of Iolite and Amazonite (although I did get a few good Amazonite out of it... but the kids ran off with them) Sooo... I can't help much with success stories. Sorry. (But... there is always the future! ... or use them in an actual aquarium of neon tetras and using a black light) Glenn
