This is a tough one for me. Was asked to make some Tree of Life wire pendants. Not the usual type, but attached to a disk with edges. The disk would need to be a small, metal lid type piece. Quarter to half dollar size. Under the tree, there needs to be space for a round, essential oil disk to be easily inserted and removed.
I see all sorts of problems with this. First to find the disks. They need to have holes easily punched in the edges/sides for the wire to go through. Also need to stand up to having oiled, felt disks in them. Need to be deep enough for a tree, with stone leaves and the disks. Materials need to be cost effective.
I suggested the person contact someone with more experience/talents than me, but she said no. Likes to challenge me. Willing to pay $12.00 each for them. That is not very much, considering the cost of materials and time to make.
Thoughts anyone?

I wouldn't do it for 12.00. That's insulting. You need to be paid for your design time. Even posting the question added time to the project.

12.00 is insulting The "disk" could be something like a metal washer? Lava bead would work for the essentials That's all I can think of for now, brain hasnt woken up yet

Insulting and I think she's taking advantage of your good nature and willingness to accomodate people.
For what would be involved in putting something like that together and the material costs, you'll be losing money.

$12 is the mass produced in China price.
Is this a 'thing' already? Do people slide essential oil disks into pendants? I guess I can google it.

Thanks for confirming what I thought. Had suggested she just purchase some off the internet that are not wire wrapped with stones, but cut metal.

Maybe I'm out of line saying this, but you are underselling yourself with your prices. I know you didn't accept this project, but she should know you can't do a project like that for those prices.

There r 2 wonderful ladies across from my area at Desert Gardens in Q that do both essential oils and lapidary. They have some kind of porous stone backed with a non pourous. You heat the pourous one a little, maybe warm is a better word. Then put your oil mix on it and it sucks it right up. The backing stone keeps the oil off your skin and clothes.
