Those last slices are fabulous. Thin slices on dense plume can yield the most beautiful pieces. Aside from doublets, cut to shape and flat polished, they make lightweight gems for earrings, necklaces and other items where weight can be a consideration as far as wearability.
Any iris along the narrow outer bands?

I'm envious of people who can collect local material. My local material is mud (adobe) and sandstone. I have a big pile of landscape river rocks that are likely granite.

Thanks everyone! R2d, I didn't even think of checking the thin cuts for iris.. wouldn't that be a kick in the head? Tim, we gotta plan a rock hounding trip.. it's been way too long!
