Thr pics don't do justice to the shine on these babies! This is the first batch that really has that mirror shine I have been striving for. They went so long in 60/90 I lost track, then I moved them to the vibe and did a couple of days in 100 before going to 120/220. Then then vibe died and they went in the rotary for a week in 500. Then half the batch went in a week of 1000 grit, the other half in Tripoli for a week. Then they went back in the vibe for 1 day in the generic polish I got from Alamo Rock Shop. This is quartz I collected at Lake Buchanan when I was there in January. Got so much of this stuff I use it for building the volume in the barrel up to at least 60%. This is red and yellow jasper I got from Banjocreek. It is really pretty and I have four more big chunks of it to cut and do something with. The rocks at the top are some of my "lack of color" mook. The four on the bottom are some rocks I picked up out of the driveway and toss them in out of curosity. The one on the left is really neat! www.mnironrange.com/images/Rocks20222.jpg[/img] This last pic is of Golden Wood (4 pieces topleft) I found on our Falls City rockhound trip, don't know what the top two on the right is. The 6 green rocks above the green triangle slab are the green adventurine that Banjo sent. The really are green! Don't know why they don't look green. The green triangle came out of a box of slabs BE and I got from a friend of ours. Don't know what it is, but we have a bunch of pieces of the same stuff - mostly about 2X2 squares. Obviously, somebody planned on using them for something. Under that is three pieces of t he rutilated quartz I got from Cookie. Love that stuff! The bottom green pieces I have no idea what they are. I got one small rock of this in the 30 lbs. box I ordered from Astrogallery. I love this rock and wish I had more like it. So if anyone knows what it might be, TELL ME, so I can get some more! That's all folks - of this batch anyway! Just took another batch out of the vibe, just haven't sorted through it yet to take pics. But, it also has a killer shine!! Will take pics of that batch and post them soon. llana PS I hope posting pics this time isn't going to be like last time when the gremlin was here and only a few folks could see them! It was but thanks to Rosebud, I have been abe to fix them. Finally got registered at photobucket, so hopefully the next time I won't have any problem!

If I right click on the image and send them to favorites, I can see them. Great job! Some beautiful stones, very nice shine! WTG! I'm so glad you like the quartz, it's unusual, isn't it? I'm about to go to 600 with some tommorrow. MORE MORE!

Well,CRAP!
Guess I'm gonna rid myself of bravenet and sign up at photobucket and repost from there!
llana
Well, crap again! Can only register at photobucket between 10AM-2PM and 10PM - 2AM mountain time and that's an hour from now. My hurt right hand is starting to bother me and I don't know if I can stay awake another hour, or even type if I do - so might have to wait until tomorrow or when ever I am at the computer those times - who knows when that might be!

Shorty, I've had that green rock for a while, so I don't think it's one you sent me. I sure wish I would have paid attention to what if looked like rough! Sure wish I had some more of it. Only have about 4 or 5 pieces of it - unless there's some more down in my 5gal bucket of rocks I have to cut and just don't know it! That would tickle me pink!
llana
PS: I used to go out with a guy named Petrosky. He was always stoned, sometimes green and the best Texas Two Stepper I ever met. I'd like some more of that too! The two-steppin' part anyway - off the dance floor he was basically a leverite! ;D

Llana, they are gorgeous. Beautiful job!!
Cookie, thanks for the hint. I found out by right clicking them I could save the image to my harddrive so got them uploaded quick. Good shot on that one.

Hi llana. I was able to see them just fine. Great job. It's a real shot of confidence when you finally get that "wet look", makes ya want get more into polish so you can do it again! Not sure why others can't see the pics, but if I remember right, last time you had problems like this it was also someone in Calif. that was able to see the pics. Must be something about this Golden state!
ps. the red and yellow jaspers are my favorites, but they all look great.

Here's the batch I took out thisafternoon. They were polished with Sureluster polish I got from Dad's Rock Shop. Once again, the pics don't do justice to the shine. Here's the whole batch in a pile. Parrot Wing. This stuff is really pretty. Lots of colorl I have another batch that looks entirely different but also has lots of color. The darker ones on the right are flint, the lighter ones are other rocks I found right outside my door. Everybody and their driveway roci inspired me to toss these in. They are kinda neat looking. Petrified wood from our Falls City trip The big honkers at the top are agatized palm wood, the state mineral. Others are goldenwood. All from our Falls City trip. Big orange looking one is a slab I cut from the stuff Cookie send, the other is rose quartz from Sands. The other dark rocks at the top are ones I found around here, the light colored quartz I found at Lake Buchanan. The three small green ones are green adventurine. The six green ones are emeralds and the purple ones are sapphires. The emeralds, all but one, and the sapphires need to go back thru the whole course again. The three on the left is some kind of agate. The next three are picture rock. Don't know what the purple ones are or the dark one between them - I love that purple stuff - got some more of it to cut. Red and yellow jasper from Banjo on the right. And that's all from me til the next batch is ready. llana

I had no problem seeing your original pics (or the reposts by Rosebud) or the second batch, so I don't know what's up with why some people can see them and others can't.
Ace job! In the first batch, I really like the red and yellow jasper. That eye agate from your driveway is pretty wild -- seems like your driveway is an excellent field-trip location!
In the second batch of photos, I really like the parrot wing, and sheesh, there you go again with an excellent bunch of agates from your driveway...you could open a fee-dig business on your driveway!

llana -- Those are just fabulous. So much variety. This time, all of the photos worked for me -- unusual. I've been looking at them for 15 minutes or more already, it's great putting together all of these with your id info about them. WooHoos and thanks for posting them.

I, too, love that red and yellow jasper. Banjo sent me that and I have four more fist size or bigger to cut. Want to cut some slabs of that now that I have a saw big enough.
The parrot wing, I also love. And the red picture rock. Have more of both to cut . Just started some leopard skin jasper in 60/90 - can't wait to see it finished.

Em, they are different batches. The first batch came out of the rotary a few days ago, the second out of the vibe yesterday. Both batches did time in both the rotary and vibe tumblers.
It has been a while since I have been happy with the finished product, so I was really delighted to get not just one batch, but two, out of polish that I am really pleased with.
