I have found it very difficult to clean all of the residue of off certain specimens after the polish cycle on my 20 inch Vibrating Lap. I have tried soaking them for an extended period in soapy water and then using a high pressure nozzle on the water hose and a steel wire brush. Some clean fairly easy, Choyas for instance. Others like Brazilian halves, they wear me out trying to clean them. I probably could use Oxalic acid, which I have gotten away from, but that could change some of the outer skin color. Maybe Iron Out on the Brazilian halves as they are dense enough to resist.
Any ideas?

Are they too large for ultrasonic cleaner? Polish residue in voids is a problem. I switched to diamond compound on small flats and cabs but that doesn't help you at all.

The one thing I have found is to clean the polish off before it has a chance to dry and set up. I use a pressure washer.

We were talking about this Around the camp fire at Agate Creek. Someone mentioned using wax or heavy grease to seal the pits, just soak it in some white spirit to clean up and all the polish goes too.
