I went to the show today. ;D Most of the displayers where of raw stones, polished stones, items made from rock, and Jewelry. There where alot of lakers for sale and on display. One must have been the size of a backetball. I was more interested in the Machines. There was only one dealer with tumbler, grit, saws, ect. I purchased some grit and polish. Two spare belts for my tumblers and some books. There was one tail-gater outside from Michigan that had Lortone tumblers for sale. Its is cold here in Minnesota today. Windy and Cold. Poor Tailgaters. Some of the far away pics came out dark. Enjoy, [shadow=Teal,left,300] Christopher[/shadow] Here is the banner in front of the bulding. Here are the tail-gaters Some of the inside dealers setup. Here are some of the private collections that where on display.

oh my....(she sez as she mops drool off the keyboard..) i've never been to a rock show and know now it would be a very dangerous thing. (reconsiders Tucson).
those are some awesome photos, AgateHunter, thanks for sharing...if i do go to one of these things, (note to self, take the BIG truck) i will try not to embarrass myself too badly.
how did the prices for tumblers at this show compare to what you can buy them for over the net? take that further, how did grit and stuff compare?
i suppose i should be glad i don't live near an area that has this featured, like living near an opium den.....
thanks again, AH,
KD

Cool...looks like they had a good crowd too. Some of those private collections look like they could have had a million stories to tell. Did you talk to anyone interesting?

Great fotos AgateHunter, thanks for sharing them with us. I could easily spend 2 days at such an event. Was planning to go to one 3 hours drive from here but illness stopped me going. The latest was 580 miles north and just too far to go this time of the year.
Well , there will be others in the future on which I will pin my hopes. A truck will be a good idea, to bring home the precious pretty rocks.

I purchased this at the show for $1.00 Red Wing is not far from here. It is where Red Wing pottery is/or was made. KD, I think the prices where the same. But I'm new at this. Here is what I purchased. 5 # of Titanium Oxide for $27.00 10 # 60/90 for $22.40 10 # 600 fine grit for $22.40 Belt for my Lortone 33B for $1.20 The guy I purchased the grit from sells the Thumler Model B for $198.31. I told him that Kempf Gun Shop sells it for 127.95 on line. He says that there is only one Model B and it can not be that price. I also see that the price in his catalog for the Calway Lot-o-tumbler is $135.00 and the price at the show was like $144.00 I stopped talking to him. This was after I purchased the grit and went back and was talking about the tumblers. Here is the link for the tumbler at Kempf Gun Shop. www.kempfgunshop.com/products/reloading/brasscleanin/thumlerstumb/140.htmlHas any one purchased this tumbler from here? hermatite, I talked to a guy that has been to a gravel pit that RosebudMN told me about, and I live only 4 miles from there. I have to go there. You put $6 or $7 in a mail box and hunt in the pit. I have to call the pit and get more info. ;D Chris

oh my gosh! i'm not sure that i should have seen this. it might be a good thing i live where that will never happen. if/when i travel to one of these i will surely not be taking my husband. it would be much better for him if he never, ever knew what i spent at one of those. maybe i could take him and send him to a hunting store with some money so he wouldn't dare ask me what i did. i think i need a valium or something after looking at those!

Chris, Thanks for taking some pictures and sharing with us.... Lakers here, lakers there, big ones, little ones, oh my, I'm would be in heaven! Loved the display where the smallest ones looked the size of baseballs!
Also, saw the sign for Rocks and Things, which reminded me that I wanted to get some polish from these folks, but you can't order via the internet, you have to call.
I think someone also mentioned that Sue at Kemph's lowered her price the Thumler B to match Cabela's. I agree with Sandsman, Kemph's was great.

That looks like too much fun, Chris. I'd have to wear a bib to something like that. Were they frequently mopping the floor while you were there? "Caution, Salivated Floor" OK, I'll be my usuaul flakey self. TONS of orbs in most (not all) of those photo's. Anyone eles see 'em? It's an "earthy" atmosphere, I guess, they enjoy it. Or it's (I know, sceptics) just reflections Get some jewlery shots next time, I need ideas. ;D cookie

I went to the swap meet and met my next door neighbor! I didn't even know they were into rocks. The swap meet was awesome and I even won a door prize(a labradorite pendant). Agatehunter mentioned the cinnamon quartz from Red Wing. That's where I grew up and my mom actually painted dishes in the Red Wing Pottery factory.

That Cinnamon Quartz is neat, looks like it was melted or something. You going to polish it or look at it? ;D I'm still crying over missing that show, specially when I was there the next day and found out it was about 5 minutes from my son's house. Cher

Cher, The Cinnamon Quartz is just for display. ;D I think it was formed in limestone and if I try to polish it, I think it would fall apart. Chris
