In another thread MsAli asked to see what I make. I finished this sphere tonight. It's a Utah septarian. The rough was gifted by 1dave. Thanks Dave!

It looks a LOT better in your hands than it did in my back yard!
Thanks for doing and sharing!
icon_think How did you keep the interior from filling up with grit etc?

It looks a LOT better in your hands than it did in my back yard! Thanks for doing and sharing! icon_think How did you keep the interior from filling up with grit etc? The grit did get in the pockets. We have a tool we affectionately call the "master blaster" that is basically a tiny pressure washer. A piston pump shoots water at 100,000 psi at the muzzle. The pulsating nature of the piston pump shoots bullets of water to clear the grits and polish from voids. To further answer your query, I have filled pockets with wax before. At the end a simple dunk in boiling water releases the way and the void is clear.

Thanks everyone. That one has been sitting unfinished for too long. I was 2 hours from done. Just not motivated. I'm trying to finish all my unfinished. And when my workshop is complete I will revisit making more.
Mostly, I wanna get the lathe turning out agates into glasses.

Can only imagine an agate glass. Reminds me of a certain Indiana Jones movie where he had to choose the correct Holy Grail. If I remember correct there were vessels made from rocks in that scene.
