What is this variety of Owhyeeeeee jasper? Bic Stic pen for scale Don't worry I didn't pay that much. It's only 7#.

Have not seen Owhyee with that brown and black tones. Some of the butterfly bi-lip patterns are seen in Desert Queen, but it also looks like some of the fine-grain wonderstone rhyolites from a bit further south in Nevada.

I don't recognize it Scott - could be a one-off cut from the outer edge of a rock that looked entirely different farther inside.
My first thought when I looked at it based on the rippled line patterns above and below a black core was Utah rhyolite - wonderstone.

I have never seen a rhyolite so creamy. The surface is fresh from a slab saw, no polish. Shiny already

It took you 8 hours? Well to get in the proper mood to study I had to drink a lot of beer with my son and his wife who came over last night... then sleep it off. The actual research took about three minutes.
