Hi! As I mentioned, the rocks in yesterday's post were gathered from a site that's known as a collecting area for "apple green jade." Naturally anything green or resembling green went into the sack. Now, I do know that not all jade is green, but I wouldn't know it if it jumped up and bit my nose if were other than green. So.
Before taking the photos I sorted out the stuff that was either primarily green or some other rock with green inclusions. A lot of the more solid color green seems to fracture easily and doesn't seem very hard. In addition to the following photos, one of the ones from yesterday probably should be included -- the honey colored rock that looks sort of like a tortoise shell something -- those inclusions or chunks or whatever they are, are green.
First, here's a picture of the whole tray with the green and greenish rocks. The white ones just went there for no good reason.
I've been trying a lot of stuff with the camera, to get a better idea of the natural color, I also took a shot in the sunlight:
The next one is of the ones that I thought had the most promise:
There were just 2 stones that were transparent and gemmy looking. These are pretty, though small, but I don't think they look like jade particularly, at least as I think of it:
I just love this rock. There are others with green or greenish areas, but the green vein in this stone is really striking and certainly looks like the color I associate with jade:
Once more, thank you for looking! And obviously, I'm hoping that someone out there can offer an opinion on whether there's any jade here.
Hopefully my picture sizes will be more reasonable this time.
