Hi Shorty...Except for the one slab..everything there is in it's raw state. These are the crystals we found in Arkansas on our trip except the slappeb one which I bought in Arizona years ago. All you need to do the shelf is one bookshelf..(mine was 12 inched deep to start with) and a little table saw..a few nails... I cut the bookcase down to 8 inches deep then cut some 2 inch pieces which I used to make the little step-shelves...was a little work but not too bad. Wife liked the results and so do I.

Hi Pho,
What a nice way to use a bookshelf. I should do something like it myself. Was the light above the stones already in place? Still have to get the bookshelf hahaha.
Thanks for showing.

lol kd only a cat owner would think of that. i was thinking what would they damage if they knocked several off then wondering what would happen if one of the 4 cats (yes 4 we've acquired another kitten about 3 mos old that was starving) knocked a big one on another cat. maybe some glass doors for us.
i want to know about the lighting too.

The lights are those little reccessed ones...I put those in myself..all ya need to do is cut a hole in the board with a holesaw...inset the lights and plug them in. They usualy come in a set of 4...on this project, I just used 3 of them... Was gonna be a fight over my crystals or the wife's bears....she allowed me to use the shelf for my crystals if I made one for her bears...done deal.

I've been haunting garage and estate sales in the hope of finding an old book case or display case to fix up. I finally found one, and then realized it wouldn't fit in my car! by the time I got back with the truck, it was gone. Great Job! The recessed lights are a very nice touch. cookie
