I got my tile saw out for a bit the other day because it wasn't so terribly hot. The blade is a getting a bit dull but I did get a few small pieces of rough cut before I got frustrated and gave up. One of these days I'm going to have a 12 or 14" slab saw, then I will be cutting up a storm. Until they the storm is just an occasional trickle...lol. Here's a few of the cuts. Obsidian cuts. I was trying to dress the blade a bit to see if that would help. It didn't but heck I got a few nice pieces of obsidian cut. A couple even look like sealskin. I know they are all from Davis Creek area.
Wonderstone from Fallon, NV - crazy patterns in this one
A little Pioneer Road Moss Agate from north of Phoenix. Hard to see in the picture but some of these have some poppies and the moss is so tight in some that they look almost solid instead of mossy. Guess less moss would have been better but rocks don't listen to ya.
A chunk of Lavic Jasper that I was dying to see what was inside. Pretty nice brecciated jasper with yellows and reds together.
This one is a mystery. I had it from that old collection I got years ago and was really curious about what it looked like inside. It almost looks the same inside as it does outside. Dull yellow mossy looking with dark gray/blackish around it. Any ideas on what it could be would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

That Wonderstone and Mystery are extremely nice. Glad you were able to do a little cutting. Here is WI it is in the 40's right now. I am under a blanket trying to warm up with fireplace going. Feel fortunate that I have a tumble set up that can run year around.
Keep posting boxes for slabs for sale to earn the $$$ needed for a saw.

Super nice, someday I need to get some obsidian! Yeah, 35 rainy and windy, here in NE. I'm just trying to work mostly inside today. A fire sounds amazing. I feel your pain on the saw- seems like each little slab I cut is a 15 minute long wrestling match between my fingers, the rock and the blade. But I'm stubborn and finish until it's done

You're doing a great job slabbing! I'm glad to see you doing it. It's so much more satisfying to do it yourself.

I'm trying but it seems like less people are buying right now. I still have at least 6 of 14 boxes still available. Hope I didn't over do by posting so many at once. Glad you are keeping warm. It is cooler here now and only got up into the 80's today so I had to put on leggings instead of wearing shorts...lol. I would be in sweat pants and blanket with weather like yours. Brrrrr, just saying.

I try to be stubborn too but the saw usually wins because I'm starting to get arthritis in my hands from my tree trimming days. Obsidian is nice sometimes but heck if I don't cut a finger or hand every time I even look at a chunk of it...LOL

You're doing a great job slabbing! I'm glad to see you doing it. It's so much more satisfying to do it yourself. Thanks, but you don't see all the saw marks and uneven slabs I cut. I usually have to rotate the rock to get it cut with such a small blade so end up with lots of saw marks. I agree, it is so satisfying to cut a rock myself.

Uneven slabs, saw marks, lots of rotating to make them somewhat uniform. But I'd rather do it myself also. Shhhhh don't tell anyone... I really do enjoy it 🤪

You did a great job on those slabs. Definitely need to find you a 12" or 14" slab saw somewhere.
It was cold up here all day today. Didn't get past 60 and it's already 56 and dropping. I actually put flannel sheets on the bed today!

You say it got into the 80's today where you are? That would be a fairly hot summer day here. I like that obsidian with the bright red streaks in it. Too bad you're not closer- I could make you a good deal on a 16-inch slab saw.

I actually put flannel sheets on the bed today! Wow, flannel sheets already, sounds like winter already. I am using a heater in my trailer already but haven't gotten out my sweat pants yet. Yeah, I want to find a 12 or 14" slab saw, problem is they are so darned expensive and right now I'm on the poor side. I can dream though.

Too bad you're not closer- I could make you a good deal on a 16-inch slab saw. Yeah that was a surprise finding those red streaks. Not exactly sure if they are red or more lighter brown areas of the obsidian. It's hard to tell from the picture and I can't remember what they look like in person...lol. must be getting old. I'd say a 16" saw would be too big for what I need but moot point since I'm not nearby anyway. Thanks for thinking of me.
