haha, just had another go on my new grinder and couldn't help but arrange my second attempts for the season..... here is just the face, the nose is a piece of jade that i got from Shorty and just cut up this morning, it's almost black: this is a piece of stichtite that i'd given up on tumbling, but managed to get a shine on it on the wheel, also a nice piece of (?) japser: last but not least a piece of Utah wonderstone that i STILL couldn't get a shine on, but it was fun (and good practice) shaping on the new machine: thanks for giving this a look see and watch out for them paper pumpkins this Halloween! yes, Rocky, i cut some slabs out of the jade earlier, some slabs i got from Sandsman and some i bought from Brett. the Utah Wonderstone i had previously sawed and tumbled but never got a decent shine on it, so it went into a (the reject ) jar, never to be heard of again...until today ;D! i am going to have to go back and reconsider my stock of failed stones as prospective grinder candidates... thanks! Very nice KD, youre taking to this like a duck to water. Love the shapes And the colors. I have a box of rejects that will probably be what I tumble this winter when it's too cold to go outside and bust rocks. Or maybe (mom)Santa will bring me a saw. Ibeen GOOOD!

KD, those are great! I love that wonderstone and the stichite.
I love the grinding and watching the stone take shape so much I haven't even attempted to put a shine on anything.
I have a whole tub of rejects that are designated for future grinding and polishing.

I've got some of that wonderstone too and it is gorgeous but too soft to take a shine. Looks amazing underwater though.

LOL Love your pumpkin head, cute idea. Also love that stichite (the pink/brown stuff) and the wonderstone. Every time I look at some of these pics I'm even more amazed at the wonder of nature and the delicate looking things that came out of the mass upheavals of the earth. I think I might need some of both of them so where'd ya get 'em? ;D
