I can't imagine what kind of project you might be involved in, that you can't even use your own saw! There must be some ungrateful jerk out there overloading you with their own 'Pet project' keeping you from the use of your own equipment. What a bone head that guy must be. Sure do like that marble Sandsman, You got a good handle on polishing that stuff too. Keep it up buddy, you are doing some mighty fine work! Thumb(ler)s up!

Sands. those are beautiful! But, then, all your work is beautiful. How long does it take to do one from start to finish? You said you had a "few minutes" and you worked on these. You turned these out in a few minutes? So how long is a few minutes? I have yet to finish one! I get stuck on the wheel and kinda forget to go to the next grit. I love to watch the stone take shape - and a good many times, I am not happy with the bevel or something. ;D Last night I did take some through the 220 grit. Might have actually gotten the finished if my 400 disc and the pad wouldn't have flown off the grinder. Don't know why that keep happening. I am using a glue recommended for glue the pad and disc on. Tore up the brand new pad I just got ang the 400 disc. Am glad it was the 400 disc and not the diamond disc! I would have been really pi**ed. May have to put them in the vibe for the 1000 and polish stage til I get this disc problem fixed. Sure not putting that diamond disc on until I am sure it will stay! I may never get anything finished at the rate I am going, but it sure is fun!! llana

llana i havent had a prob with them flying apart but im useing belts for all but first grind i got an 80 diamond wheel,, the only prob i had was with the polish belt it stretched out so far it was hittin the back of the grinder so when they sent me a new one i took an old carbide belt and put it inside the new leather belt,, and it stopped it from stretchin all out again because they dont stretch so it would only let the drum expand so far has worked fine so far ---you have an expanding drum 8x3 thats what im useing bout a month ago i ordered belts got a box of each 220-400-600 ten in a box cost around 65.00 i think and im set for awile---i have never used a disc befor so i cant tell if its you or the disc i dont know how they act but you might wanna try the belts since your having trouble with the disc---------and i guess it took about an hr or so start to finish this rock shaped fast since it was softer and it got a decent shine to i wouldent say mirror but a good shine i might go over it again with polish and see if it will come up better ,, i did that with the sodalite and it made a big dif

hey llana maybe your spinning to fast i slowed mine down by puttin a bigger pully on the motor i think i went to a 3inch it was 2-1/2 on there i tried to change to the second pully on the grinder but it was too slow so i changed the one on the motor,, i like it alot better now even for polish seams like i have more control i think it gives me acouple more seconds before i change the shape i just made hahaha,, so i mess up less cause it dosent take to much off befor i realize it happend

Sands, I am going to use a different kind of glue to glue the pad to the disc. I think that's the problem. Will test it out on the 600 disc before putting on the 1200 diamond disc! My pully is 2 1/2 inches too. Might move the belt to a larger pully on the grinder and try that just out of curosity. I have the belt off the grinder now so I clean it up a bit and put on some splash guards, so now is a good time to experiment. What is that second rock? It looks like something yummy to eat! llana
