Below is a chart of various colors/patterns of block Turquoise offered for sale by a dealer. This is made using resin, dyes and various inert ingredients. It contains no real Turquoise. Some manufacturers will add various metals to the blocks, making them look more realistic. When hot, the mixture can be poured into molds of various shapes. The modern day version can easily be melted with a hot needle. It also has the feel of plastic. In the 1980’s, I knew someone who was making Turquoise blocks using scraps from their creations. These blocks contained real turquoise and a resin that did not melt. They were popular for carvings. This type of block is now often called reconstituted stone. block turq
