I have been trying both via email and via phone to contact the graves company for an order - I have heard NOTHING back? Are they still in business? Does any one know of any West cost suppliers of lapidary supplies. I know of Johnson brothers all ready - or just a great supplier that picks up the phone? Thanks in advance.

What, specifically, are you looking for? There are plenty of online vendors for stuff...it just depends on what you need. Depending on the size of the item(s) shipping may be handled by using a USPS flat rate box. In that event, you won't see any savings simply by using someone close to you. It can come from across the country and still be the same price as someone on the west coast. |

Graves is still in business but they never return emails and seldom answer the phone. I've placed orders through their web site for faceting machine parts and accessories a couple of times over the past year and both times the orders were filled and shipped in a timely manner. As far as general lapidary supplies go, I have found The Rock Shed, Minnesota Lapidary Supply, and Kingsley North all to be reliable. And although I've not ordered from him yet, a member of this site (Johnsgems) owns a lapidary supply company named JS Gems. I believe John to be a knowledgeable and a stand-up guy.
