Can anyone help? What would cause barrels to "jump off" the AR-2 when tumbling? Sometimes there is no problem and other times when I go to check on it (the same day), the barrels are no longer spinning. For lack of a better description, it looks like they tried to jump. One may end up diagonally upright rather than horizontal. I haven't changed the way I have tumbled rocks.
Please let me know if there is other information that would be helpful in determining why I have migrating barrels.
Thank you for your help.

check your white bearings on the non-belt side should be freewheeling if not 3 in 1 them

I had to lighten the loads on my Chicago Electric duel barrel to keep them spinning. Now using a 3 lb. barrel and a 1 lb. one. I am also using transformer oil about every other week. Cleaning all old oil completely before applying new.
Have you checked the belt tension? My tension on the belt was fine, but personally, I was always wondering if the tumbler would stop, which caused me to have tension.
I just picked up a duel Thumbler, so will be watching this thread.

My guess would be that the barrels are binding. Are those two outside white plastic guides free spinning? If both barrels gravitate towards one of those and they are not free spinning it may cause a barrel to jump. I think the barrel is hitting one of those and climbing up it.
I have never owned a Thumblers so I have no idea how those guides work. I am just thinking out loud.

leisa - are your white barrel guides spinning freely or will they only spin when the shaft is spinning? Chuck

I'm still thinking the round steel rod is binding or needs light sanding maybe it somehow got scored up where the bearings sit and ends need to spin freely maybe the one end is binding and the bearing is grabbing thus allowing the barrel to grab and launch is the black sleave grabbing or spinning freely you could buy a new shaft don't think they're that expensive not that you should have to spend money on it but that would give you a quick easy explanation and narrow a lot of things out
