Took out the latest batch last night. Turned out pretty good. Think I'm getting the hang of this ;D Let's see, went like this: 1 week 120-220 1 week 600 3 days Tripoli (first time I've used this) 3 days Cerium Oxide 24 hours Borax burnish (made a bigger difference than I expected) Here's the whole bunch Picture jasper Leapord skin jasper Pet wood Amethyst, citrine, moonstone, and your guess is as good as mine The Nelly blue flint got lost somewhere, but I'm going to photograph it again, in came out the shiniest of all. But for now, Enjoy! cookie

You will be assimilated. That's actually something that made me happy. Haven't seen picture jasper turn out that well. The Tripoli seems to be the key, and/or the 24 hr Borax burnish. In The Vibe cookie

OK, rephotoed the Nelly Blue. It needed to be on a dif background, the white reflected too much light. I love this stuff! The pieces are intentionaly small for jewlery making. cookie

Nice job Cookie. They all look great. Do you know what that sky-blue colored stone in the group pic is? I've got one that looks sort of like it. Is it a local stone?
Hey, I finally made senior member.

Excellent batch! I don't think I've ever seen picture jasper shine like that before. That blue flint looks great, kind of like dark version of sodalite.
Tell us more about the tripoli...you use it as a pre-polish? How did they look coming out of tripoli, any shine, or just matte?

Thanks all! Ed, that sky blue one is in the "your guess is as good as mine" catagory. I think Cher sent it to me. The Tripoli has been the answer for me. Since I start at 120-220, I loose a stage, 600 used to be my pre polish. The picture jasper was dull right up to Tripoli, then it took a shine. Several other dull stones got better and the Nelly blue (wish it phoytographed as good as it really looks) and pet wood took on a mirror shine. The reflect so much light you can't see the colors and when I tried to tone it down, it's just not as pretty. I thikn it looks best in the group photo. I also highly recomend a longer Borax burnish. I did it 'cause I just didn't have time to change it for 24 hrs but it really helped. Thanks again ;D
