Hey, good morning all, I recently cut this jasper cab: DSC_0377_Unknown brecciated jasper by Stephan Telm, on Flickr Unfortunately, I know nothing about it. Just a pretty piece of trim I picked up way back when from the 50 cent pile in the shop. I'd like to list it on Etsy, but it would be nice to tell people a little about it, like where it was born.... Any help is appreciated.

I know nothing. Except that it's awesome.

Looks like a typical Franciscan melange type jasper. Franciscan Formation all up and down Commiefornia yields that kind of material. Poppy and brecciated types are found as well as just mixed up pieces like yours. Shows up in a few places in the Sierra foothills but mostly in the Coast Ranges from Santa Barbara County clear up into Washington state....Mel

Agreed. Hoping for something slightly more specific. :-) Looking at it some more, I'm thinking that somewhere in the vicinity of Black Butte Lake/Stony Creek/Stoneyford is very possible.
