Do not ever, not ever, do a final rinse over the kitchen sink, allowing a miniscule rock to fall unnoticed into the garbage disposal, wedging in and preventing the disposal from turning.
Just a helpful hint. Don't ask me how I know this.

Not to mention grit and rock mud setup like concrete in the drain.

Not to mention grit and rock mud setup like concrete in the drain. I rinse all of them 1st in a 5 gallon bucket by the sink & then switch to another colander, run under water to keep them wet while sorting. Pretty careful not to get stuff down my drain but occasionally I drop a tiny rock in there
