So I went to my first rock swap a while back in Crawford, Ne and a guy that I go hounding with showed me a picture of a fairburn that sold for $1200. I asked him to send the picture so I could share it. Most of the fairburns that I've found ranged in price anywhere from $50-$500 at the show. I don't sell mine, but I would be hard pressed to turn down $1200. It's the one on the left that sold for that much. Go figure!

I know, it's ridiculous. I found it hard to believe as well. Then again, you know what they say about a fool and their money... Like I said, most at the show varied from $50-$500 that I saw. Which to me seems very high for one rock. Whatever, I just like them I don't collect them for the money.

I think he may have exaggerated a bit
There was one on Ebay that sold for 720 that looked very similar to the one that you showed

The one she has pictured and for sale for 365 is a tepee canyon agate, even though she labels it as a fairburn.

The one she has pictured and for sale for 365 is a tepee canyon agate, even though she labels it as a fairburn. Would that affect her price? Probably not. It is hard work to recover and so has also been a rare agate. Found in a bed of limestone, so you have to break out the limestone layers and then break it up to find chert nodules. Some of the chert nodules will have the agate inside. That is a fair price for a large one. Oftentimes rocks like that sell for more in the specimen state than you can make off slabbing it. Cabs you might exceed the value, but a lot of work also.

I follow a guy on IG that digs a lot of it. It does look like hard work
