hi guys! just took this last batch out of polish, some did and some didn't, but it was a real dogs dinner mix (kinda like trying to put a shine on popcorn), so i knew some of it wouldn't shine. but, what do you do when you don't have enough (and probably will never aquire or accumulate) to make a full barrel.....anyway, the stuff in the center is absolutely gorgeous stuff, the photo doesn't do it justice, i got this from Shorty....yo, Shorty...do you know what this is...got anymore? there is some turrtela (sp?) pieces, some petrosky bits, a few pieces of picture jasper i got from Sands, a few pieces of agate i got from Cher (more from that in the next batch, too), a few small pieces of mex lace that i wanted to work on before christmas and added them at stage 3 with lots of pellets. anyway, here they are: can you see the sunflower in this one? thanks for looking! Very NICE batch! Lots of colors!
What are the rocks second up from the bottom? Is that a sort of marble or maybe that's zebra jasper?
I need a saw, lol
Great job!

Jimmy, those green stripey ones are also from Shorty, i don't know what they are, kinda quartzy tho...i'd take more of that too, Shorty!!!! (get out the snow shovel and boots and go polar hounding...haha, KIDDING!!)
Cher, the prarie agate are the five orangey-stripey pieces next to the green stripey ones....these were the first pieces to look done, i left the rest in 60-90 for another week, i'll them ready soon!

the very top left (brown stripes) are some pieces i cut from a slab i got from Brett (where has he been lately?). they don't tumble well at all, but they shine up nice on the grinder. i was looking for softer stones with this batch and kinda threw them in as filler, too small to grind. the blue-ish ones below that are from a picture jasper slab i traded for with Sandsman.
Cher, i was planning on taking more photos of the praire agate when i get this next batch out, should be the rest of it.

not sure what the black ones are, i think i got that from Brett, but i'm not sure.....at first i thought it was obsidian, but then i thought maybe onyx? it didn't polish well but has "veins" that polished.....i am putting them in my too-hard-basket for now and may try another polishing step further on down the road.
i keep telling myself to stick to the stones that polish well, but it's hard to know sometimes.
thanks for all your supportive comments!

yeh, whatever that stuff is, it looks like enameled japanese work, right colors to for cherry blossoms on a green tea background.
and the white background, orbicular stuff is gorgeous....a bit soft, but extrememly nice.........i got lucky on that trade, huh?
